“Automobile city” VW Wolfsburg
The worldwide unique automobile city of the Volkswagen concern opened its gates in Wolfsburg. It presented itself over an area spanning 25 hectares for visitors as a centre of excellence and entertainment of a special kind. Its emblem includes two automobile towers, rising 50 metres into the sky, which lights up nicely at night. The construction is not just attractive but is also a technically enterprising design.
Each tower has over 20 floors, a surface of 760 square metres and steel volume of 475 tonnes. ZinkPower Calbe hot-dip galvanized all parts in order to effectively protect the steel construction from corrosion. This was followed by a coating according to the Duplex system. This guarantees economical corrosion protection for decades.
